Here is an old skid plate thread. Skid plates weld on to the K frame and deflect debris from the oil pan... or lift the front of the car over it. Mine, installed by Firm Feel, has saved my engine more than once. Just recently I "ate" a super single truck tire tread standing tall in a circle on the interstate on a cold dark morning. Front valence has had it, radiator lower support has had it, other stuff has had it but the deeper than stock oil pan + engine is OK. The skid plate pushed the mess of rubber under the pan. A few rubber stains on the bottom of the pan and that's it.
I don't have pics of my own but there are plenty of pics in the thread. I believe it is a full weld deal.
