Not knowing all the finer details, on the outside it looks like JF's ego/pride is in charge regarding forcing the resignation to be effective immediately, IMO. Of course that really shouldn't be a surprise, as much as he has earned that stature.
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

Every time they talk to Force I change channels or turn the volume down. Every now and then is ok but they seem to worship him. They will interview him when he loses and not the one that wins sometimes.
