I read either on YB or SpeedTalk that Bryce is getting divorced and the business has closed its doors as a result.

It was probably either give it all to her or claim bankruptcy.

I wouldn't be surprised if he re-opened the business after the divorce has been finalized, under a different name possibly.

I wouldn't be surprized if ISIS sets off a "dirty bomb" in Washington, D.C., either. But until it happens, we're both simply speculating.

I don't know 100% what's going on w/ Bryce, only that more than one online post has said something about his divorce impacting his ability to run his business. Too bad, but (as I believe you and I can both attest to) divorce can be a TOTAL p.i.t.a. to get through.

I know all too well, especially when there are children caught in the middle. All I'm saying is, he invented a product, and if he has the fire in his belly to get it to full scale production, he'll find a way to get there. It will just take time to rebound, financially. I wish him the best.

This is only speculation on my part but after playing with three sets of the so called "special castings" and getting a true 220-225cc port with the csa #s and actually better flow if you have a large diameter spring id would bet the top of the intake runner is very thin and possibly the casting could not take a really high spring pressure.

I stuck with a slightly smaller diameter spring with a very high spring rate and a bit over #500 on the nose.

If one has the time they can get three sets of the base 190 cnc castings at a very fair price and go from there on them.

If you can do you own work you can have a better head with better parts for 1300-1400 vs 3200 for the full monte.

The casting make power, more then most would believe or expect with some chamber work as well.

I will look for a few pics, but on some intakes its hard to get the runners to match the ports as they are tall so a lot of time went into the manifold.

Its ironic when they first came out it was this and that was changed, but they come from pro comp with the ductile iron seats, all holes are helicoiled in every spot as an edelbrock.

I wont drop names but a few of the detractors of the casting are getting good numbers with the casting but keep there info tight as they are in it to sell heads.

Feed them the right intake/carb setup and you got a head that I don't think can be beat that still use oem type specs in intake/ex port bolt patterns and a shaft rocker.

I myself would be skiddish of a spring at over #500 open, I found no pourosity? in the castings and no tubes were used to get the CSA Bryce listed, just a lot of time on the heads and intake.

2.08s are ok, but the #s with a 2.055 are just a hair behind them. As I did both.

For $75 a pair pro comp will set the seats uo for 2.055 or 2.08s and that's the way to go as they do them local and I only had to touch up the ex seats.

Anyone can Call Craig at pro comp sales and get the castings direct vs the hype, smoke and mirrors of the ones being sold on ebay.

A lot of the ebay sellers say the flow numbers have not been released which is BS the 170cc PC head flow has been out ever since they started to cnc them.

The are cnc-ed by a company who does many brands of heads right down the street from procomp and Craig even gave me the number to call and talk to the company about the flow, so they had nothing.

I called procomp direct as a "local" dealer tried to upcharge me $400 on a set of castings acting like he was doing me a favor.

The CSA at the pinch point came out to 249, close enough to call 250 in my book.

Would I pay $3200 for a set of AW heads, nope id go to an indy- head, can I justify 1300-1400 and my time, yes.

Not meaning to go further off the path, but the csa of these heads vs a w2 port, unless I did the math wrong the w2 port has a higher csa #.

But its like trying to compare a dog to a cat.

Hi,

I got a pair of the heads after a fair effort chasing up Bryce (Probably about 5 months from ordering). At that time he was having issues with the separation and I believe there was a young child involved, so you have to give a bloke a fair go. I spoke to him on a couple of occasions and he seemed genuine but under the pump in his personal life.

Anyway I've also been trying to chase him regards what type of springs he uses (I requested the set to suit hydraulic roller @to suit up to .680 lift) as I didn't get a build sheet ala Streetwise. I got the full CNC with the titanium retainers but the smaller springs as I'm not building an all out race motor. I was also going to chase him regards a port matched manifold but that looks like a pipe dream at the moment.

If anyone can enlighten me on what type of springs he used I'd appreciate it!

I hope all works out well for Bryce. At the end of the day he was one of the few people developing SBM heads so hats off to him for that!

Hollis changed out the 1.82 installed height 175/525 springs with a nice 250/600 set of PAC's set up at 1.9. The AW springs were 1.82 with about .060 of shims under the spring cup, so with a .668 gross lift cam i had a real minimum margin for coil bind.

Bryce said the springs were .comp 953 with .585/210, the cam i was running before was real mild and with only a dizen or so passes they should have still been fresh enough fir the new bullet.....but i was a bit unsure so I had Hollis check them.

I want no issues and really be able to wring it out, the easy 5800 rpm check out pass went fine but the new cam wants to go 7000-7200 and my gut said to verify the spring pressures first....good thing i did, just wanted Bryce's side of the story and see if he wanted to offer me something toward the Pacs if it was an honest mistake....i know...good luck with that...but my dealings with Bryce have always been on the "up & up".

I was thinking you got THE dyno mules

Unless he set up new springs maybe they had a ton of run time on them

Well, hopefully he turns up some time...he has $2500 dollars of my money that I paid him in January, and have not heard a peep from him since! I even got his cell phone number from a friend of his brother, but can't get him to return a call or email. I may have to use some vacation time to make a trip to California to see about getting either my heads, or my money back.

That's straight up bullpucky. I don't care what his personal/marital issues are.

He was involved in a build for a friend of mine that was a 5 figure disaster. I got threatened with a lawsuit for sullying his image because of my comments.... still waiting to get served with court papers on that one. LMAO Truth is the ultimate defense!

I wouldn't let that dude work on my lawnmower.

Seems everyone that suddenly "falls off the internet" is haunted by this scenario. Hope you find this dude....
