Anyone know the diameter of the pilot shaft hole in the crank of a LA small block? Is it the same as a Magnum small block? Is the "new" 4.7 V-8 the same?

Is it the same if the engine had an automatic behind it or a manual trans?

I just use the roller bearing (mopar also sells a bushing) that taps into the torque converter register. I went thru it trying to put a stock bushing into an oversized hole in an eagle crank. I do know that some cranks for autos were not finish drilled and don't have proper diameter or depth holes for a four speed. Some folks cut a little off the trans input shaft and use the bearing/bushing deal like me. I think the p/n looks up from a v6 late 90s dakota?
I have a 4.6 v8 durango if it ever breaks I will hate working on it- computers and wires and the thing is not very accessable from above- need a lift to do the simplest things.

Oh and you only have to clip the input shaft if the hole isn't deep enough- bolt it up like that and watch your thrust bearing get eaten. If the hole is deep enough but unfinished thats fine the shaft can float in there and locate in the TC pocket.

Brewers has the part thats where I got mine after the stealerships didnt have them.

Roger that. I have a getrag 6-speed that was behind a 4.7 in an 06 Dakota. I'm putting it behind either a LA 360 or a Magnum 360 in my 46 1/2 ton. I have the pilot bearing (roller bearing) from the 4.7L. But I don't have the engine yet. If I find a running 360 I prefer to use it as is for now, don't want to pull the crank for drilling the pilot hole.

Thanks for the info.
