jrp16 OP member J Joined: Oct 2014 Posts: 21 Arizona	A question for you engine guys out there. I have a 1970 383 motor that when it reaches operating temp, I get a tapping noise. The motor does not overheat.... Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Plenty of oil pressure? any other valve train changes? Press straight down vertical on the lifter end of each rocker arm with a wooden hammer handle while idling & a bad one will get quieter/change tone. Holler back when you can live every 24 hour block of time like it's your last day on earth

NTOLERANCE master Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 4,384 Madison Wi	IF you determine that its not an exhaust leak, and if you check the lifters - I would also check the oil pressure. Additionally if it is a lifter and you cant pin it dowm someone with an old occiliscope might be able to help. Couple of things to report back with - Mechanically checked oil pressure hot and cold. Stock cam and lifters? Stock stamped rockers or adjustable? Stock or HP or HV oil pump? Has it always been there or just started? I used to care but....... things have changed
