A break down on my build for those who don’t know me or haven’t read any of my posts. My car is a 68 Dart. A full chassis car (drag race only). It weighs 2836 with me and the Mega Block. I now have my KB block (RB) to take its place. It has an ATI glide with the 1.76 1st on a trans break. It stalled out around 5300. That may have to change for the new setup. The rear has 4.56’s with 32x14.5w slicks. It also has wheelie bars and a chute. My Dart is a bracket car. The motor is a 572 (4.500 bore). It has 7.100 R&R billet aluminum Pro-Mod rods. I would like to run it on alcohol with 15.0 to 15.5 to 1 compression. It will be a single carb on a cast B1 manifold on top of B1 Originals. They have 67cc combustion chambers. The bump stick will be a 54mm roller Bullet cam. I’d like to keep the RPM’s to 7000-7300 max. That being said, for a couple races during the year, I would like my car to run 8.17 to 8.20, the rest of the time I’d like to slow it down to 8.90’s to 9.00’s. All naturally aspirated. Hopefully that is doable. If there is more info you need, just ask. Thank you to everyone here

I see you are located in Idaho? If the elevation is high where you are, it might be tough to go 8 teens at 2750 lbs. Not saying it can't be done, but if my weather tech is correct it will take somewhere around 1050 dyno hp to give you an 8.15 ET at 3,000 DA. As far as cams go, an apples to oranges comparison is all I can chime in with. 528, alky, 15/1 compression, 440-1 heads that flow 380 cfm, cam is 283/296/112 in at 110. Lift is .775 intake, .685 exhaust. I would guess you could use a couple more degrees on the intake duration and a touch more lift on both , maybe a 113 LSA or so? The best bet is to get a recommendation from a couple of cam companies and see what they come up with. I would check with Comp, Bullet, Lunati, to name three. Steve at Lunati seemed to be very informed, and the grind he recommended for me had some serious .200 duration numbers compared to other cams with similar .050 numbers. One thing I worried about was how harsh those Lunati lobes would be on parts. There are a couple of guys that ought to chime in hear shortly, guys that have very similar motors.

oops sorry. Yes our elevation is right around 2720' at the track.

Bullet has always been my first choice. Would you go for the wider LSA that you like to run on this build?
Also am I pushing it with the 1.76 glide and rear gear/tire size that I've been running on the car? The reason I ask is, with the 557 I was going thru the lights at 7000-7050.

I personal like the wide LSA stuff. It has always been beneficial for my engine deals. IMO 114ish would be a good place to be. Also don't be afraid of duration, especially on the exhaust side 292+ at .050" will do well. Would need to think on it a bit more and look at your specs. But IMO compression at 15.1 or more, LSA in the 114-116 area and plenty of exhaust duration. Lift for the intended RPM band and let it eat. Just use GOOD parts.

DON'T BE AFRAID OF RPM!!!
7000 through the eyes is nothing honestly. I would shoot to be 1000 or more than that. To make the kind of power you want you will NEED to be there.
AS for the glide. Hey if the 1.76 gearset lives more power to you. When we went from the Hemi with a 1.76, which worked great for a long time to the B1 on a fresh trans it made it exactly 7 passes before it spit out the planetaries. The next set lasted maybe 80.

With the 572, what kind of RPM are you thinking? Keep in mind I want to keep this a fairly low maintenance deal. It's just me and my wife with our 2 little helpers out there.
