Who has put one of these on thier car and how hard was it to get it set and running right? Thinking about getting rid of the points.

I have one on my 68 dart. Real easy to set up, never had any problems. I hate points...

I ain't run it yet but I've heard nothing but good about & very very few complaints (& this is where we come with complaints!). You need minimal radial play (tight bushings for no side movement) and AZ reportedly has rebuild point dizzys for cheap. iirc no solid core plug wires/cap with brass not alum inserts/dont leave the key "on" without unhooking it/keep the green tape there?/gap with the supplied plastic gap tool?/use their coil/no ballast. I think Scratchn knows the ins and outs on Pertronix & check on the above. I would go with the II or III Pertronix

Yep that's pretty much it. I gutted my ballast and soldered a wire across and re-installed it. I did it for simplicity sake, its the same as eliminating it. You also want to go that route if you want it to continue to look like stock under your hood.

it was literally the fastest change and running again on anything I have ever had to do with a distributor.
10 min tops to gut it and put in the petronix and start the car again.

changing distributors took me longer and I still screwed it up and it wouldn't start the first time I tried that. on a different car.

running same one for 19 yrs now. still carry the points/cond in the glove box just like the instruction said too. also said I would never need them again though. 19+ yrs so far.

ez to install and revs to 15,000 rpms if you can go that high

gut the BR for a full 12 volts to the flamethrower 40,000 volt coil.
