I saw a Small Block balancer on Ebay from KMJ Performance. Fluid filled balancer for $99. SFI 18.1, 12,500 RPM. Anyone ever use one of these? Are they good, OK or junk? Is this another case of you get what you pay for?

Be very careful how you spend your money on balancers. Maybe Todd from CompetitionWedge will chime in but I think he uses and recommends Powerbond balancers. My Son Matt had a cheaper (Summit brand) spin on him.

Same thin happen to me, summit brand sfi balancer the outer ring was spinning on it, cost me a couple pistons before I found out. ATI is what I have now.

That was my first thought when I looked at it. But I thought I would ask. I'll get an ATI or a real Fluidampner.

A factory new balancer is designed for the parameters that the motor will operate. The aftermarket imports design for certification and not what your motor needs. Read the Chrysler tech bulletins on balancers and then get the manufacturers(balancer) graph on how their balancer charts. If your motor lives in a particular range(6500-7000rpms), then you should look to see what brand dampens the harmonics at that range. Under 5000rpms anyone should be OK.

Me too...or me three. The disruption in harmonics caused us major issues that I was chasing elsewhere. I will NEVER buy another Summit balancer. Especially after their answer was "Wow. That's too bad. Sorry about that". Fluidampner now...
