I have been beating this engine pretty good. Friday night testing for outlaw races. Saturday index races. Street cruising. Whatever floats my boat. Everyone looks under the hood thinking this must be $50g's.

Well finally after not checking valves as often as I should, lost the bearing in the roller tip of one Jesel rocker arm. Checked with Jesel $35 for a replacement. Called Ritter and he had complete rocker arms for less. So I ordered 8.

This is nothing special for most racers. 15 years ago a similar fix for my CFE w8's would have been buy the part from Jesel along with extras and a two matched pairs if you want spares.

Bottom line the parts for these are somewhat exotic. But, a phone call or two and you can have very affordable replacement or spare parts. Kent Ritter basically has an inventory far better for these engines than your current mail order guys do for other mopars. And there are many others who have r5p7 inventories as well.

My son wants to put one in his duster. I want him to do a LA small block. My 15 year old kid can't handle 800hp in a street car. Lol

Kent has a massive inventory, pretty much anything you need, he has. I was in amazement last time I was at his shop. Walking thru corridors of r5 blocks and peaking into rooms with p7 heads stacked like cord wood 5 feet high.

I have to talk ritter a few times and he is a awesome guy. I was going to buy a set of w9 heads from him but found some for $550 shipped so I went that though.

With a converter that was too tight went.
1.36 60ft.
5.71@124

On spray it has a 1.22 rear wheel 60ft. Then drives through the converter. Hopefully know more after testing one of my old PTC nitrous converters. Then try one of their new designs. I think it will prove to run better than the W8 motor had run.

Is this an example of hijacking a thread?

I got good horses in my stable here in VA

Did you have some different pistons made to handle the nitrous? On my pistons the ring land is so close to the deck and the rings are so thin, I'd think they'd melt right off with a shot. But if you're having luck with it and stock pistons I'd like to hear about.

I hope my tame W isn't so brutal on parts or I'll regret not going with an R5. I just couldn't wrap my head around the amount of stall they like in a street driven car being I would only be able to afford a 358

This is not a 358. Therefore don't have the same setup. It is a 440 super outlaw late model. I was planning to have to buy pistons. I called Mahle who made the pistons and got the specs. The rings are down. They are .043/1.5mm/3mm. The tech guy said it was a piston generally used for that class. I asked about building a purpose built piston for 300 HP nitrous. He said I already had one save my money.

Most 358 r5p7 engines have thin rings. You would have to recut grooves for thicker rings to spray.

I would like to soften the chambers, go with aluminum rods, to safely spray more. So far so good with what I have. Just need to knock more timing out of it.

Wasted $40 on shipping priority express USPS. Took two days. Meanwhile some golf cart parts from MA took two days USPS regular postage. Parts here today and look great.
