Well went to Budds Creek Sunday to make a few passes and wound up with only one. They had a big pro mod event that Saturday and we figured the track would be really tight but several cars ahead of us spun pretty good so we took some timing out early in 1st gear it, the car launched decent and felt good 1st to 2nd gear shift the car nosed over right at the 1/8 mile so I shut the car down and coasted thru the 1/4 figuring it run out of fuel. We towed the car back and when I opened the hood I noticed the blower belt had all the teeth missing, no teeth no boost. Well I didn't have a spare belt ,I didn't think I would have this problem so soon but thats what I get for thinking. Will have three belts in the trailer for now on. I still haven't got a good clean pass with all the power yet but we are going to an all day test at VMP this Friday and hope to see some new best out of Dart Vader.

That's one heck of a maiden voyage down the track!
What causes that to happen to the belt?

IT may have been a belt tension issue, belt tracking seems to be ok.I guess if it jumps a tooth during accelleration its going to rip them all off just from the shear force .

What pitch belt are you using. I'm thinking you need a stronger belt.

sucks the belt ate itself but at least you didn't brake anything. Hope to see that thing Oct 25th at the Mopar show.

Ya, 8.6 at 119 mph I`d say you`re in for a helluva ride if you can keep it lit.

Ive got two belts on the way from Procharger. They are the same standard Gates 15128-50 rubber belt which i'm sure will give me the same problems. I looked around and asked around on the net from the different shops who sell blower belts and one company mentioned Jones Racing Enterprise out of Pa. I called them and they can make custom belts out of carbon and kevlar which really should help the problem but they are out of that particular material I need and it is about an 8 week lead time on the belts. So we will see what we can do to make these belts live a few more passes.

Yes Jones Belt Drive is awesome, super nice people great product! Only problem is bring your wallet, they are not cheap but you get what you pay for. They are only 20 mins from me.

I hear ya. I payed $367 for 2 belts from Procharger but that includes next day air shipping. I'm sure one belt from Jones may cost that much but I'm sure it will be worth it.

Wow just really looked at the Race Pak data and it chewed the belt up at 4.2 seconds into the run. It went from 27 psi to 14 psi and still went a 5.21 at the 1/8th. All day test at VMP Friday hoping for good weather and low ET's.
