OK,here's my dilemma. My 70 Charger 500,I have the original dash VIN tag. However someone before me removed it from the dash frame and wasn't very nice about it.I've straightened it the best I can,but it still isn't that presentable. The car is being re-done very nice and I will have a tough time putting it on the car. What are my options here, does anyone re-do or repair these tags.I don't want this thread to turn into a slug fest, just helpfull replys.Thanks,John.

Of all the things that could be bought as a reproduction item for a Mopar, I would think this would be absolutely the last one anyone would consider.

Having a reproduction VIN tag would seem to be the worst of all worlds. Whatever the shape of the original it would seem to be far less of a bad can of worms than having a reproduction.

If the tag is tore I would get it back into the proper shape, and use either silver solder to fill holes or whatever body filler you feel comfortable in using -- even JB Weld works well for non stressed areas to get them looking good again.

I would definitely use the original -- just doctor it up.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

Try www.datatags.com they've done VIN tags in the past for individuals, you'll need all your documentations up front, title, registration, possibly a buildsheet and or fender tag to provide absolute proof of the car/ownership/VIN verification

I would try a Trim repair specialist and have it repaired.
