I gotta question for all the SLOW car guys. I'm not sure if any of this tech stuff about the car is relevant but I will add it just in case. I run a 408 small black in my 1974 Plymouth Scamp. I have a 904 trany and a pro-tree brake with 4.57's in the rear running on 28 x 10.5W's. I have a full Caltrac setup front and rear with Afco double adjustable shocks on the back. It runs low to mid 6.90's in the 1/8th. Im running the MSD Programmable 6al-2 box which gives me the ability to add different timing curves. My car runs the best with the timing set at 38 degrees advanced, so that is what I have it set at. 60ft times are 1.45/1.46 on a nice track but down to 1.49/1.50 on a warm track/worse track prep which is expected. But the problem is, with warmer track temps, it will hook decent on one pass and maybe turn the tires over 1 or 2 times on the next pass, and as we all know, that kind of consistency is not good for competitive bracket racing. My main question is, how much timing should I pull out after the initial hit (im starting .3 sec after unkeying the button to let the tires plant) and for how long should I keep it out? I want to be able to take some power out on the launch so it will be more contestant between track prep/temps, even though it will effect the 60ft times on a good cool track. Id rather it be slower and constancy than faster and sketchy. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks
