Had a couple of questions about the update to the UCA, and since a picture is worth a thousand words, here you go.
We are still working out a 100% solution to the issue, but this is a step in the right direction. I'd like to point out that this "fix" is to a failure that only I've been able to create on our cars, so there is no immediate rush, but if you find yourself rebuilding your uppers, I'd order this part. The missing piece to this is also a bolt upgrade, which we are working on sourcing, but we are concerned about adding even more price to the control arms. A custom fastener could increase the price of the arms another $20.00 so I'll share how to DIY right now. You'll want to source a Allen Cap Screw that is 3" or 3.25", run it in as shown in the picture (with it all assembled) and cut/grind off the excess. Easy cheesy, funny that a custom fastener would add so much expense, but the cheapest we are seeing right now is $8.00 a bolt our cost

Here is the updated shim...

And here is the improved shoulder you'll have with a 3" bolt.

As some of you know, we continually test and improve our products and I don't think anyone has more miles on their stuff than my wife and I have on ours. The wifes car(daily driven B body about 8k miles a year plus events) and Emax were updated May of last year with prototype pieces with the wear eliminated; and the Road Runner is getting off the shelf stuff right now. Since I have it apart for test fitting of a new Milodon pan with external pick up.
I'm working on getting an update/rebuild kit for the arms that will include heims, heim booties, this upgrade and upper ball joints for those of us who have been putting the miles on our cars.

Does this only apply to UCA's made before July 2013?
Thanks!

Thanks Dan. What "failed" was the rod end walking back and forth then wore out? Or?

What about a stripper bolt/ shoulder bolt?

If you have a black heim spacer with a silver washer, you have the old design.

Dan, how many bolts like that do you think you'll go through?

Get me specs on the bolt. I assume the bolt you suggested is used due to the shank length.

If all else fails, I can cut down a whole herd of those things on the cheap, including proper thread start.
