Is replacing a convertible roof something the average enthusiast should be able to do, or should it be left to a professional? I can't really say there isn't too much that I haven't done to a car, but replace a top. Who's done it? Car in question is a b-body.

Restoring a car to look "only" as good as the factory made it is like getting a boob job for your wife and having the doctor make them two different sizes to seem more natural

I've done just about everything automotive, from full restos, fabrication of ANY component/body panel/engine driveline parts, as well as all phases of body work/paint/glass/engine building/machining/tranny rebuilding/differentials/suspension/etc/etc/etc and upholstery, including convertible top installs...trust me, if you can afford it, let someone else do it, just find a qualified shop that specializes in convertible tops, otherwise if you want a challenge, go for it, just be prepared to purchase another top if you FUBAR it

100%

Had the same debate with my 70RR. I'm a serious DIY fellow also, as many around here, but this job (and the windshield) were given to pros. Worth every penny.

It can be done (I've done it twice) you just need a lot of patience
