I'm working on a W2 heaaded 340 that has some valvetrain problems, the valve springs were singles with a damper which kind of botheres me, so I checked the seat pressure and it was only 60 lbs. What should the seat pressure be with this cam, and what should it be over the nose?

I am running a very similar solid flat tappet in a 360 (Ultradyne not a MP). I'm using Howard's #98438 dual spring set at 130lb seat and 360lb on the nose

I ran one of those back in the late 80's. I remember the engine builder complaining about the valve springs when he assembled the heads. I know the ones I had then were the springs that were recommended with the cam at that time. I think they were triples but I have no idea what the #'s on them would have been.

I like to see between 140 and 175 lbs on the seats and 325 to 375 lbs open on all my Hi Po street and bracket racing motors with flat tappet cams

I had this cam in my street/strip 340 with J heads, about 10 years ago, double with a dampener spring, were at 145 on the seat and 340 open. I want to say installed height was 1.800/1.850?..been a long time, not positive on te height.

I used Comp Cams #928 springs on W2 2" installed height with that cam.

Double spring with damper
