finally got time to take the Scamp for a cruise, took about ten minutes to tune the carb, The whole time idling the temp only got to 160.
totally stoked on how it performed, no track test yet but took it for a 15 min drive and only got up to 175. even after making a few WOT hits. ran great and thanks to AJ Casini for doing the conversion
track results next. btw driving to the track
hoping to get in the 9's and drive it back

Excellent!!

E85 is amazing stuff...way cheaper than race fuel...no HP loss, slight increase in some cases...runs much cooler. Those reasons alone have me convinced that the 13.5/1 540 will be back on the streets sipping on E85. Every gas station around here has it

Glad to hear the first drive went well, I think you're really going to enjoy this switch!

Coming out saturday night?

I have wanted to run E-85 for a while now. The only thing slowing me down is replacing my whole fuel system. I hear you have to run the right kind of hose, all the aluminum has to hard anodized.
Do you have special line or will any steel braided line work?
My fuel pump is a marine Mallory 140 with the return style regulator. Do I need a different pump and regulator?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have braided lines thru out the car, aeromotive pump and regulator, I spoke with AJ Casini (member here) he is the one who did my carb, so he said everything I had should work.
Not sure on your pump it needs to flow quite a bit more than gas

I'll look into the fuel line a little closer. I was going to have Quick Fuel do my carbs. My combo made 550hp to the tire w/100 octane av-gas.
Looking to get the car to run cooler. 12.85:1 compression would probably like the E-85.

Thanks for letting me high jack your post.

SB 408, ported eddys, 13/1 comp. roller cam
I cannot buy race gas again, last time I did it was $14 a gallon
It is well worth it even if you need to buy some parts to run it
Go for it

With the fuel pump you want to make sure it can feed 30% more than what you would require on gas.

As far as fuel line any of the popular braided lines will work just fine. With the fuel filter you will want to run the steel mesh style 100 micron. I have seen some issues with fuel cell foam deteriorating best to remove it or at least test it with some e85 in a jar to see what the reaction is.

The only pressure regulators I have had issues with are the Barry grant 2 and 4 ports. Any diaphragm regulator with a green diaphragm will work. I have used quick fuel, aeromotive and even the cheap cast holleys with no issues.

If you have any other questions let me know.

So good to hear the carb is installed and you got her running. Let me know if you need anything else.

Do you have problems with consistency of the fuel or is that a thing of the past? Are you saying the hard aluminum line will not stand up to the ethanol?

Thanks for the info! Looks like I better start ordering parts.

I've been on E85 for about 2 years now. And I get it from the same station that Stroker Scamp is. It has always been 85% when i've tested. I've also never bought any in the dead of winter.

I run standard aluminum fuel line, Steele braided lines between the tank and pump, between the regulator and carb. I use summit inline filters and a Holly 12-125 pump. I use a Holly regulator. Four years and 800 passes on this setup with no problems. The only maintenance I do is before I put the car away for the winter. I drain the tank and float bowels, put one gallon of 100% gas in the tank, turn on the pump to purge the lines, start the car, let it run for a few minuets to burn away any E-85 that was in the lines, turn off the pump and let the bowels go dry. I then shoot WD-40 into the bleeds.
