Hi Guys,
The last bug to work out before I can drive the blue Challenger is the brake pedal. It has power disc and when you apply the brakes then let off, the pedal stays down and the brakes are on(obviously). And body know a fix for this? I did adjust the push rod and that didn't help but now that is at least adjusted right.

Thanks,
Bob

What's the history of the booster? Internal failure is the most likely cause.

Disconnect the vacuum hose, pump the pedal until the booster vacuum reserve is depleted and see if it does the same thing.

Booster Dewey did it before I met Ramman who did the master. I will try that. Thanks!

we had a similar problem on the bee-all new everything from the ram man and after a month of great brakes the pedal would stay down. it almost sucked it down of you lightly applied the pedal. i adjusted the rod between the master and the booster making it longer by two turns and the problem has gone away. disconnect the booster like the previous poster said-try that as it could be a booster problem but also check the pushrod length.
best of luck.
frank.

Disconnected the booster and actuated the pedal a few times to bleed out the vacuum. Pedal is hard and it doesn't go down far but comes back up.
Black car has manual brakes. I like those better!

Thanks,
Bob

Had the same problem with a car that the previous owner installed a Jegs power brake conversion on. Went through everything, talked to the tech guys at the manufacturer tried everything. Finally went down to the hardware store and bought a small spring. Attached it to the pedal and then under the dash with tension. No more problem. Didn't want to do it but after trying everything else it worked.

This may not be your problem, but I have seen it cause the same symptoms. Check that the bolt that holds the pushrod to the pedal is not binding on the pushrod. Since the pedal swings, it has to be able to swivel around the bolt that attaches it to the pushrod. Just my
Jess

Yeah, it's hopped up to over 160...

Not sure on your car, my B body has plastic bushings that were stuck to the bolt on my pedal.. Got them out, hard old grease, ran a small wheel cylinder hone throught it, reinstalled bushings w/silicone grease..

Ramman Wayne got back to me and said 99% of the time it is the distribution block. So I have a rebuild kit coming for it and will post results.

Thanks,
Bob

My mistake. Not the distribution block (proportioning valve) but some distribution block inside the booster(?). Sent the booster off to Wayne on Friday and waiting for a report.

Arghhhh..... the problem was not with the booster. Wayne called and said it works perfectly, check for any binding. Well, when I originally refinished the swing pedal assy, they moved nice and free. Not an over the top resto so I sprayed them as an assemble. 4 years later, the rust on the brake pedal shaft was so bad I couldn't hardly get the pin out that the pedals swing on. Once I got it apart I found the clutch pedal needle bearings were bone dry also. Lesson learned. Take it apart even if it seems ok and lube it up!!
