I believe that the obvious answer is, no!

BUT I can find this type of piston for sale anywhere. I really don't want to have to buy another set.

Can I smooth out the broken edge and still use this piston??? I dropped it on the concrete floor while dismantling the engine.

The part number is B-284R made by badger. .040 over

No you can't reuse that .

replace that.. you might need to have it balanced to

You should be able to buy one of those. Don't worry about the weight if it is a few grams off. Your will never know it.

The previous owner of my little black Dakota raced it with the supercharger for about 5 years. I would hear that thing ping the entire pass… and it kept going. Later I bought the truck and put a turbo on it. I got it into the 10's at factory weight and with the factory bottom end and "hecho en Mexico" pistons. When I decided to "retire" it before grenading it with even more boost, I tore it apart. Every single skirt was broken off both sides of every single piston, and it kept running. It had obviously been broken for awhile - because when I pulled the pan off there were no piston chunks in the bottom. Sometimes things surprise me. Hehehe

Yeah I have seen some BAD engines over the years that
still ran.. but they ran like sh1t and shook pretty
bad but yes it was still running

This one didn't shake… but it had some pretty low oil pressure when hot and some pretty severe blow-by at the end. It took 18 psi of boost to get it into the 10's. The mains looked OK when I took it apart - but the rod bearings were into the copper for some odd reason. hehehe

Looks like a stock piston or stock replacement to me.

Go to the parts store and buy a replacement piston for your engine model year and oversize.
Buy one set of rings to match.
Install new piston.
Install rings.
Put engine back together.
Start engine and run through two or three full-throttle/closed-throttle cycles.
Take it out on the road and do the same thing.

You're now ready to drive or race or whatever.

Stock replacement pistons are built to match factory blueprint weight within the factory tolerances. If you're not replacing all the pistons save your money and don't rebalance. You'll never notice the difference.

If you are replacing all the pistons, go for some that weigh much less than the factory (720 grams without pins). Somewhere around 500 grams is a nice area. Then you will have to rebalance, but you'll notice a difference from the lighter pistons every time you accelerate.
