Specs on my roller cam

Duration @.050 284 int 298 exh

lobe lift .456 int .451 exh
Valve lift .775 int .776 exh
cam center @ 113.0

lobe seperation 113.0

int open 29 BTDC closed 75 ABDC
exh open 82 BBDC closed 36 ATDC

Milodon gear drive

I set the crank @ 29 degrees BTDC, then I set the intake on the cam @ .050 lift.

This yields a 113 center line which is zero advance base line with 113 lobe seperation.

Engine 572 indy maxx block, B1 originals ported at Koffels, Holley Ultra 1150 Dominator.
4.5 x 4.5 Molner 8 bolt crank and 2.2/.990 @ 7.100 rods, Diamond gas ported B1 Pistons with .043 total seal moly plasama rings N/A @ aound 14.0 to 1. engine. Main and rod clearance is .00298 to .00302 I just finished the short block last night.

Car is a 68 dart round tube chassis coil over front and ladder bar rear with Strange dbl adjustables front and rear, roll control and chute. weighs close to 2760 race ready with me in it. I have to re weigh after combo is finished.

Drive train is 2spd gld with 180 straight cuts, 9 inch 6,000 vert and pro trans brake.

dana 60 , 513 gear 14x32 goodyears D5. I am planning on new slicks next week , anything fits under this car, so I am crossed between 14x32x15 or a 33 inch 15.

This engine won't be dyno'ed, It will be track tuned. I plan on shifting around 7600/7800
The cam made very good top end power in my 528 CI

I was thinking to leave the cam set at 113 c/l at first and if need be, advance it to 111 or 110 if determined later. I am just not sure about the 60 ft is all, it seemed lacking with the 528 but the slicks were going away and never did a 60 better than a 1.34 @ 121, 119 118 mph which were my best runs for test n tune on the old engine with track prep marginal at best. It did make a 126 mph run one time, but it never repeated , so I didnt mention it above. I am only running 1/8th mile as of now (local) and was only trapping around 6800 give or take, can't really remember.

With the bigger stroke and cubes I am thinking leave it at 113 and go from there. Not sure of an ET as of yet, or hope a 5.70-5.50? I need a good 60 and 330 to run good, but the track doesnt have a 330 ft timer. I have just recently started on making a 200ft x 12ft concrete test track on my place, with timers installed. It will not be ready until summer of next yr.

Hello!! You did not state what the valve lash is?? For every .010 lash is 1 degree!!! So if your are measuring at the cam The valve timing will be"retarded"!!!! Let's just say your lash is going to be, .025, Then you need to advance cam 2.5 degree's!! Remember that the engine see's what the valve's are doing not the cam!!! So you have to compensate!!!! Hope this help's!!! Good luck you will have a fast car for sure!!

Thanks Dwayne, I got to thinking about the lash after I posted. My lash is .026 int and .020 exh. So I installed the cam at 111 instead of 113. I checked it 3 times this afternoon, breaking set up and doing it over. So I believe I'm dialed in for tuning at this step of my build. I'm taking the rivets out of my cometics now. I'm glad they're brass.

For what it's worth my cam is similar 285/292 though I run more lift,470 lobe w/1.7. It's on 112 in at 108. With a 727,4.10,10.5Wx31,-1 Indys, crossram w/Eddy carbs. 5.80s@118,3330lbs. I'm thinking of advancing it to 106. 60 fts are low to mid 1.30s.

I am almost finished building the engine tonight. Cab, I will check the cam again once I set the valves on the stand. I'm about 15 hrs from being done.
