Started restoration of a 70 Challenger. Will need to replace the firewall and cowl panel due to excessive rust. What do restorers do about the VIN stamp on the cowl? Restamp the new panel? If so how? Or should it just be left unstamped?

Thanks,

John

I believe the standard procedure is to cut out your numbers from your original cowl and cut /weld onto the new cowl.

How bad is the upper cowl VS the firewall? I had the same situation where I wanted to save the upper cowl when I had to replace the firewall. I used a doaner section to repair my original and installed in on the new AMD firewall.

If its too far gone I would use a new cowl and keep the original section with the numbers in my file.
