75 W200 440/727 Stock motor other than headers. Needs exhaust. Thinking 2.5" duals or 3" Single. Opinions? Trucks daily driven at the moment and will be used to haul other cars and truck on a trailer. Thanks

I always liked the sound of duals with just some cheaper bottle style mufflers on it. I like to bring them out in front of the read tires as well.

You'll build more toque using a single 3" & will be cheaper to have done also

Yep.....I agree as well unless it's an all out performance goal......I'd stick with 2-2 1/2" with some Purple Hornies.....sounded awesome on my sons truck and the whole shoot'n match was 100 bucks out the door plus my labor which is normally an 18 pack of miller lite

I disagree. 2" duals would be cheaper and flow enough.

I love duals but these trucks are a pain to run duals on. I would have to say a single 3 inch down the right side would be much easier to run and will flow enough for a low rpm 440. If the frame tank is gone then dual 3 inch.

I'd do the 3" single. Dual exhaust is a pita with these trucks. Gene

Duals for $100 there's 2 1/2 sticks in duals on a Dodge truck Cheap aluminized sells for around $35 a stick & the mufflers at cost are $15 each ^ hangers minimum at $2 each
It takes a good muffler guy 3-4 hours to do that 4wd the right way from the manifolds back

I used to do exhaust

Well I specified the size I plan to use. 2" is too small to me. Maybe for a smallblock but not a 440. Its not a Diesel or a Stepside so no stacks either. Single 3" will actually cost more and I plan on doing it myself. Dual would exit before both rear tires(as it is already)
Single 3' would utilize the Factory tailpipe available(have one on my 75 D100)

3" galvanized fence post is cheapest just drink a glass of milk before & after welding it

I built my single 3" for my CrewCab in my backyard for around $125 & $75 of that was the new CTD muffler I used

Is this for the truck you painted green with the roller? If so can you post a current pic? I'm hoping to put on coats 3 & 4 on my truck this wknd.

Well Bob that's all mine cost....did the install myself....mine went from header collectors to mufflers and downturned right at the rear axle....fuel cell in the bed. See it can be done....maybe next time ask first how it was done

headers to the axle can be done for $100 like that but not on a 4wd
Maybe you should have been more clear

Two basically straight pieces of pipe with mufflers is hardly what a 4WD requires

Guess I'm just lucky having a friend with a exhaust pipe machine that doesn't cost me anything. I shop around auto parts stores and have found many bargains on returns (mufflers) that typically I can pick up for a song.

My point is you can do it very inexpensively if you take your time and do it yourself....I try to do everything myself, I enjoy it....but that's just me.

Last set of Welded Turbo 2 1/2" mufflers cost me $15.00 ea.(returns) Auto Zone
