Hey all,
Just thought Id post some pictures of what my dad, little brother and I have been doing. My dad has been out of the Mopar scene since the early 90's, but had a couple cars in magazines and what not. We picked this up for $1500, and its in good shape other than the passenger side qaurter was whacked between the door and the rear wheel opening. Were in the process of finding a rear door from a 4-door, to use the door skin as a patch panel since you cant find quarters for these cars. Hopefully it will work.
Only other fabrication we did was replace the front floor pans, which was actually fairly easy. Drilled out all of the spot welds, pulled the old panel out, then put the new panel in, using the original front pinch seam, and made the rear cut over the crossmember so that it cannot be seen from underneath.
So...once we get the quarter fixed, we will get to the painting part. Got it in primer just to protect it. Its a 65 Satellite, with a 383/Auto. What would say its worth once its done? My dad is CRAZY anal, about even the simple small stupid stuff! HAHA. So it will defenitely be right. Was originally light Yellow, but hes thinking of the factory metallic red color. We'll see...

Let me know what you think!

Kyle

It sounds like it's going to be a restified car? Meaning lightly modified from stock.

IMHO, to get the most resale put a 440 in it. Not that much more money to build.

It's almost impossible to guess the selling price of a car that not even restored yet. The 62-65 posts go for more than the hardtops. Nice slightly modified hardtops I'd say were $17K to $30K. But it's a bad time to sell. A stock pale yellow 383 would be about the same price or less but slower to sell.

Yes, very slightly modified Id say. It will be nicer than the factory in some ways, as the bottom will all be painted, etc etc. The 383 is not numbers matching, and we have a built 440 sitting on a stand that has never been fired. We kind of contemplated that, but figured since it came with a 383, then maybe a 383 would bring more value. Maybe not.

Thanks!

That is really cool that your dad is taking the time to do that with you. It looks great, and it is something that you will remember for the rest of your life. Your a lucky son.

Thanks guys. Were both having fun for sure. We argue and bicker some, because we are both stubborn as hell and have "our way" we want to do things, but in the end, hes paying the tab so I usually let him do it however he wants. HAHA.
Ill keep everyone posted.

Kyle

Great looking project. I am just starting a 65 belvedere hardtop myself.

I am thinking about red with a black interior. I would like to see one done in the late 60's B5 blue.
