I need my alternator redone. Does anyone do these with a core charge for a fast turnaround. I have a 1968 (one prong) and 1971 (two prong) dated alternator as a core for a 1970. Thanks.

If someone was rebuilding an alternator and wanted to be as close to factory specs, I cannot imagine why anyone would use anyone other than Jim Ridge with Dixie Restorations.

Also worthy of a first class job. I wouldn't go anywhere but to Dixie or Plum Crazy based on the work I've seen out there so far, especially in terms of the smaller details.

I can't speak to Plum Crazy resto's, but I have a very nice one from Dixie.
I also have used 'Almost NOS'. Ask for Rich. In some ways they look a bit more like I would imagine one would have looked on a factory car in the day. The Dixie one is too smooth and light. Just my opinion.
I did love working with Jim from Dixie, though. Great guy.

I helped Rich and John get into alt rebuilding when they started out as well as all the info for all the date coded hoses you can now buy for a Mopar.
Smooth is factory assembly line finish.
1970 cores are hard to find....it was the first year for the Dual Field alternator. It was also the first year for the new E Bodys and Superbirds so anyone with an early build which is probably what you have is going to be an expensive and hard core to find. Build date window is very small going from the single field to dual field.
Example...one date coded say...the 29th week of 1969 would be a single field and one with 34th week of 1969 would be a dual field.

Here are some pics of an untouched assembly line piece.
Note the red/orange assembly line paint markings and the dimpled rear frame bearing.
I give up trying to get more than 1 pic at a time showing in the post....so if you are interested...here is a link to more pics.

Here are pics of a 1970 that has been to a common rebuilder before....note the finish is coarser because it has been blasted with metal shot.
