What is the correct finish on 1970 15X7 trim rings? polished or brushed and what is the Chrysler part number?

for the most part Superbirds & AAR'Cudas are "brushed" & all else for '70 are "polished"

According to Galen's "white book" - 15x7.0" trim rings for a Superbird changed based on actual early/late production date (12/10). What are you working on?

Does anyone make a repop of the deeper trim rings as I had a set of these on the back of my 71 charger rt just like the picture above and coming home from the car last week one flew off somewhere on the highway!! Been on for over a year with no issues and then all of a sudden gone when I got home. Kind of sucks as they came with a car I bought and now I can't find a replacement for it

One of my 70 GTX's had Brushed Trim Rings on it. I spoke to the original owner and he said it came that way. I put polished on to stay with popular opinion but always wondered.

Here is #436 on the list !

With the Superbirds - I think Plymouth tried to save a few on a car that they were already loosing money on. The existence of a less-expensive trim ring probably helped with the decision to have "Rallye Wheels" STANDARD equipment on the 2,700+ AARs the following spring.

IMO Follow the b'cast, without one follow the norm - Superbirds are pretty well documented & known when they were built, so the sheet from a close car should provide the answer.

Trim rings were shipped from the factory in the trunk. When the PDI at the dealership (or contracted garage) was complete, it's anybody's guess If the "correct" trim rings made it from the trunk to the wheels on each & every car. They could've been put in the parts department until the car was "SOLD" - there are a thousand "what-if?" or "why?" unanswerable questions/variations. Do you want a car "perfect" in the eye of Chrysler's intentions or are you replicating every error and/or flaw?

I would agree with the above rationale. But even today in some rare instances, parts on the assembly line can be substituted if they don't affect safety or government compliance restrictions just to meet production schedules/quotas. I would think 40+ years ago when things were simpler and less rigid, it happened more often.

Let's face it, trim rings aren't that big of a deal in the grand scheme of automobile production - not like transmissions, engines, etc.
