Hello, I want to test my rear power window motors on my 70 Charger. I have them out of the vehicle and separated from the regulators. My guess is that you connect black ground to the core of the motor and the red positive one at a time to each of the green and violet colored wires. One for up and one for down. However I do not want to attempt this method with out knowing for sure. I do not want to burn out the motors by a mistake that can be avoided.

These are the original motors from factory (attached is a pic of one of them).

Also when doing this test can I use my battery charger? It has a 2 amp, 10 amp and a 50 amp(jump start) settings. Or do I have to do it directly from an auto battery that has much more amperage.

Thanks in advance.

I believe you do not ground the motor. Just hook batt power to one wire and ground the other wire with remaining batt feed. Then simply switch those wires around to test reverse rotation of motor.

build another is correct.Just hook up to the 2 wires and then reverse them.Thats how it done in the car.I played with a lot of them at home and at work.Just so you know a lot of the later motors like 5th aves etc interchange. When I had my RamCharger i got like 5 of them from my buddy in the junkyard.Only difference in some is the wiring is opposite.Up goes down and down goes up.Just swap wires and your on your way. Also be very careful of the arm spring.I had one spring let the arm move and had a finger with a cut to the knuckle and couldnt use for 2 weeks.Rocky

yes you can use a battery charger to power window motors.
i use one all the time when taking apart LKQ doors in body repair.

buildanother, therocks, 451Mopar & Mr T2U thanks for your replies!!!

That did the trick, just hook red to one lead and black to the other lead and it works the motor. Switch the leads to reverse the direction.
No need to ground the casing. However I did read somewhere on-line that was the procedure to ground the casing. That's why I relied on the Moparts experts

Also I was able to use a battery charger for testing as long as I had it on the 50 amp setting. 10 amps won't budge it.

Thanks again to you all for your replies.

Bryan

Hey I just noticed your location. I'm originally from Akron, OH not too far from you. I'll be visiting in 3 weeks. Wish it was this upcoming week so that I could go to the NATS. Man I miss that event. Are you going?
