I finally found my leak and it is the new filler tube, I have it out so I can put a new o-ring on it. If I use RTV on it do I need to drop the pan and do the inside part of it too? I have had it to 2 shops and they couldn;t find it. I want to get it fixed this time. Thanks for any info on this so I can get it fixed. Thanks Ronnie

Clean the hole squeaky clean with brake kleen then Mopar black RTV. Let it set up well. iirc on mine I pulled the pan so I could for sure get at it & clean the hole thoroughly. Pull the dipstick tube & eyeball it & see if it looks like you can clean it without pulling the pan then go from there whether the pan needs to come off or not

Will it mess up anything if any of the RTV gets in the tranny? If there is a chance I'm going to pull the pan

I'd pull the pan unless you can drain the fluid. Inspect the tube and make sure it is not cracked. Reinstall and let is set up overnite at a minimum

Ckecked tube not cracked, brand new one. Pulled pan and got everything washed down and letting it dry good before I start putting it back together. I'm going to let it set for a few days after I get it back together before I put any fliud in it. And I'm going to go ahead and put a new filter in it so I don't have to open it for awhile. Ronnie

The silicone trick is very common, but the best way to seal it is having the correct new o-ring installed and making sure the tube fits straight down in trans case without being "loaded" to one side.
