Hello every one,
Well, just drove to the track tonite and didn't get to race because my Moroso water pump drive quit working. The motor just wont turn til you move it with your hand ,then it turns very slowly, and gets hot quick. This is the second motor, and this ones only been on there for less than 2 years.I want to step up to an electric water pump, the kind that goes into the stock housing, and I see three brands. The Mezierre, the Proform, and the moroso.I am pretty unhappy with Moroso right now,any one have experience with the proform? The Mezierre looks really nice, and they have an HD that flows 42 gpm vs the Proforms 35gpm rating, and its only 20 dollars more.Any horror stories about Mezierre stuff???How about Proform???Thanks guys.
This is for dragstrip only 440 bracket car w/iron 906 heads .No street use.

Been running the Moroso for almost 8 years w/out any issues even on hour plus drives in the desert. Maybe you got a lemon from the gate.

IMO the belt driven Moroso's are good for the track and really not built with the intention and durability for long term street use.

My choice would be the Mezierre however, you know what they say about opinions

Maybe I did get a lemon. The first one lasted about 6 years.I Only run it for 5-7 minutes at a time, and that first one gave up the ghost while I was breakin in a new set of lifters, running it for 20-25 minutes straight. Now this was the water pump drive, the separate motor that turns my stock pump.I want to know about the pump that bolts into where the stock pump goes.

I must live a charmed life also
My pump motor has been on a long time and my 8 3/4 is still alive with 1.38 - 1.40's in the 60' @ 3325#
Stock caps and it's not back braced either

My first one was a Mr Gasket and it gave up the ghost early on in it's life.

Learned to leave the belt scary loose helps them live longer.

The Moroso motor was defiantly a higher quality than the other.

Mine was Moroso, and the second one appeared much better built, but it always made a funny sound, maybe I was running the belt too tight?I guess that toothed belt wont slip,I could of run it looser?Well,I think this Mezierre pump may be a better deal anyway, more flow and only a 6-7 amp draw.when I hooked up the second drive motor it kept blowing 10 amp fuses.

I am also using the Moroso electric pump in the aluminum housing . Not the separate motor style for well over 10 years now no issues . Gary

Absolutely. If you have any belt tension , you are pretty close to too tight.

I like my old school Moroso belt drive setup. I can glance at it and see that it's working vs the others you just assume they are working until there is a problem. Street/strip 512 13-1 Summit Aluminum radiator with single 16" electric fan. No shroud. Cools fine. I'm sure if my motor quit I'd have a different outlook. I do carry a spare moroso motor just in case. I have seen, first hand, one of the drop in pumps stop working too ... Much cheaper to carry spare Moroso belt drive motor...

If you all dont mind I would like to ask a question about the electric waterpump ? Do any of you run it on the street alot and drive many miles with it and have no overheating problems ? I mean like with my stock aluminum waterpump and housing you see here I can drive all over for hrs with no problems. I just drove 90 miles home from carlisle at 60 mph all the way in 90 degree temps and my eng ran from 180 to 190 all the way home. Could I do that with the electric waterpump in some of your opinions ? Thanks , Ron
