There were a few years in the late '70s where you could order two tanks, and in some cases they came with the in-cab and under bed tank. I've also seen the two under bed tanks in those years as well, so I'm not sure why the two options existed after the normal in-cab tanks were phased out...
Not many 1/2 tons came with 440, I have one myself (76 W100 shortbox AdventurerSport 4x4 with auto and fact. A/C)

As I recall to get dual tanks in 77-78 you had to have a long box. Both tanks were under the bed.
I would like to see a under hood sheet showing dual tanks on a 77 short box.
We converted many trucks to dual tank in cab with all factory parts. It was plug and play with factory parts and if you have one it would look like a factory install.
The factory FSM was full of mis-information. The FSM combined 74-77 as I recall.
I know of a bunch that were converted when new But I know Larry is dead on when it comes to these little facts I have a huge collection of factory literature & have studied just about every Dodge truck for options that I've came in contact with & have only seen a hand full of factory dual tank SWB trucks like that Larry has the only 77 I've ever seen
He's posted the 76 before & I've read & heard of it elsewhere too & it has to be the most documented one that I've ever seen
It's listed in my 78-81 catalog but not anywhere else I've found yet

Kind of OT, but how quick were the SWB 440 trucks stock?
Not really OT cause I wanted to bring out as many facts on these trucks as I could
I have a guy trying to sell me one & I just can't believe some of the things he's claiming & won't give me a partial VIN to verify what he's selling is in fact a 440 SWB D100 Custom
