My brother friend couldnt get his comp lifters to pump up at all .But it does sound louder under the car.
Paul, I didn't post a video of it running up high on jack stands. With it jacked up no doubt the noise is way louder under the car and sounds like its coming from torque converter area.

Next time you have it running hit the starter with the stethescope. The starter in my jeep got to where it wouldn't pull out all the way and it made noise sort of like what you have. It was a PITA to track as it would do it then quit for weeks lol.

Starter is like the only thing I didn't put the stethoscope on. With the dust cover off the torque converter I can look right up in there. I'll check it when I get under there again.
I ran the timing light and its tough to tell if the noise has the same cadence as the timing. But if I had to guess I'd say the noise is with the cadence of the timing light which means top end. But like I said, its tough to tell. My son watched the timing light and he thought noise is with the cadence of the light but we are not completely sure but that would be our guess.

Hi- Did you check your retainer to guide clearance? You mentioned changing to 10 degree retainers. They will change your max lift spec. The eddy head spec is .575 and you are already over at .586 lift. You should have .125 clearance between the retainer and guide at max lift.
I checked it with a check spring during mock up. I believe I have a lot of room there. This is using my hand to fully compress the rocker. The actual cam does not lift it as far as the picture shows.

Ck to make sure the rockers move freely when loose those comp cam rockers have a tendency to seize to the shaft.Maybe they are getting stuck and the rap is from the pushrod/lifter.Just another thought.I wish you were closer I would come by ,I was just in DE for turkey.
Paul, when I adjusted the valves each rocker moves very freely and no signs of over heating or binding. Looks like lots of oil is getting up there too. I know its not an exhaust leak and its not the torque converter. I think I need to start looking for a bad lifter. I just ordered some cheap Summit chrome valve covers that I plan to cut the tops off of and run it like that.

might be a pain in the neck but i think you mention the noise is on one side.
Since they are rollers switch sides and see if the noise follows.

For God's sake is there no one who lives in the area that can come take a look/listen to it for the man. I second set of experienced eyes and ears cannot hurt...
Sure sounds like a lifter/rocker issue to me. Have you tried loosening up the preload to see what happens. Sometimes trying to make an issue worse will lead to the cause...

Lifters are not staying pumped up.They seem to be bleeding off at max spring pressure. You can adjust them till the cows come home and they will just bleed off again and again.Stop now before you ruin your cam if you haven't already.
in one way or another - it all comes back to farm animals with you... lol I thought it was Fred, but i must be wrong!

Are your pushrods seated in the lifters good? I know you said the pushrods had lots of clearance. I have seen them hit at the bottom of the hole thru the head and not seat in the lifter cup right. Then they snap-in as the lifter rises and snap out as it falls.
Hope you get it fixed.
BTW, what heads are on it? Reason I ask, is the head that I had probs with was an MP Mag R/T.

I am running Edelbrocks and I did have to clearance the lower portion of the push rod hole to get the push rods to clear. I took the heads on and off a few times before I had enough clearance where I could see day light between the push rod and the holes in the head.
