I am wondering if you can drill the back of the head where it meets the rocker pedestal so you can make it oil like a Indy head?

You can.. but it oils like a stock head
EDIT
I always felt it was a pain to hook up to the valve
cover then out the back

What do you mean by "a pain to hook up to the valve cover then out the back"?

The goal here is to set it up for stock style oiling.

It oils like any other stock head through the head..
I was thinking he wanted to run the oil line up to
the valve cover then to the shaft itself

I asked this because we got the new style W2s that oil through the push rod and we're trying to avoid new rockers and lifters.

I assume you have the single shaft rockers.. do you
have the oil thru lifters... but I didnt know of any
of the W-2s that didnt have block to head oiling..
I have the single shaft rockers on my econo W-2s
but I plugged the head oiling and use the push rod
oiling because the lifters I have oil the roller
lifter axle and PR oil also... are yours econo or
race heads

I THINK you would have enough room to put a fitting
thru the head near the rear intake side and a 90* AN
fitting inside and another 90* AN fitting on the shaft
to put a short braided hose between them.. that way
it wouldnt go thru the valve cover and make it easy
to install the covers

These are the "race W2s" just got them. I'll have to go check the head.

Normally the race or econo have the hole for oiling
then the stands have the passage
