Have a 2004 3500 ram dually, Got a couple questions: the rear hub seal seems to be a 2 piece seal, does it need to be oiled or greased before installation? 2nd, The bearings basically are lubricated by gear lube, do you coat them with lube or a light coating of grease on the reinstallation? Reason for the question is that I have to change out the disc brake rotors.

I don't know that specific rear but a general comment on full float PU rears. Pack the bearings with grease and lube the seal with the same. Eventually the rear lube will wash it off but you need to keep everything healthy until it does.

Well thats what I did. I looked on you tube videos and they were no help on the proper installation. The only part they left out was the changing out the rotors on a dually is not a easy job. A 10 year old truck has some very rusty bolts, and the factory lock tight didn't help either. Long breaker bar and a big vice, 2 different impacts were no match for those bolts. While I was removing the bolts from the rotor, 2 guys were watching, WTH , every turn of the bolts was like breaking it loose for the first time. The only easy thing was the seal installation, rubber seated slips right in. If your gong to do a rotor replacement on a dually, plan for some extra time and maybe a few more cold ones when your done. Thanks for your input.
