So I am continuing to part out my 73 Dart Sport today in the 26 degree warehouse....Yeah and I stumble across something I have never seen before and I am guessing it was added even though it looks factory.
It appears to be a block warmer!!! Yep a block warmer!!!
Has a 73 looking cord (like and extension cord) covered in factory 73 looking fabric-like heat protection and it bolts to a sending unit in the block on the drivers side around mid block.
Anyone ever see something like this????
nothnig new been around for years... you can still buy them...used in colder climate.... Like here in MAINE

Very common to see in cars built for the Canadian market. The build date in the block heater itself will tell if it's close ot the car's build date. My #'s matching 1968 440 had the block heater factory installed between the block's casting date and car's scheduled build date. There was no engine paint on the block heater so I would assume it was installed as the line got the B-sheet for my car (code 497 for 1967-68) I had seen original unrestored 1970 383 Challenger sold new in Canada have the block heater installed and it was painted over from the factory . My 71 Coronet had the N25 on its B-sheet.
If it is not on the B-sheet,good chance it was dealer or aftermarket installed. I hope this helps, but as we all know, line workers and dealerships did many different things and differences may be noticed betweeen plants...
