71 Duster #s matching! no mods
Horns do not work. I have tested them and there good, the relay is good, the steering wheel is grounded.
I believe the steering shaft needs to be grounded through the bearings, it is not but the steering column is. PLEASE HELP ! Thanking you in advance.Don

I don't know if this will help but if your car has the horn relay plugging into the fuse block like my 71 B-body; there may be missing 12V to one of the pins. I'm trying to remember, It's been a long time but I believe I had one pin that wasn't getting power from its terminal in the fuse block.
That may or may not help you but just check if you have all the connections at the fuse block working as they should.

Hook a test light to the horn power under the hood and ground.Press the button and it should light. Then move to the relay and check the came thing but it should ground.Horns need a good ground so run a wire from batt neg to them and see if they work. Also check if it has the copper ring under the steering wheel. After years they lose contact with the button that sticks up.Rocky

the ring turns green and i've seen the button/wheel get stuck. well not stuck put not enough pressure from the spring to make good contact with the ring....

The ring also gets thin from turning.I fixed a bunch at work by carefully tweeking them downward.Rocky

(1) Jump fire to the wire at the horn relay that goes out to the horns & if they sound then that circuit is good (you already tested the horns themselves). (2) The hot in 12V feed wire at the horn relay to power the horns should be hot all the time. (3) Ground the terminal on the relay (the lug on the relay not the terminal/wire on it) that has the wire that goes to the bulkhead/st column & see if the horns sound. All that is left is (4) the horn relay & (5) possibly the horn relay needs to be grounded
