I have a buddy that found this motor and Im not very good with the ole school Hemi's. The owner said it had a stamped number of (VT 549-2496C)

Well, from what I learned off the internet so far is that VT were 354 truck engines.

My research into the early hemis when I was looking for a 392 is that a LOT of the old racers used 354's, as they had a shorter stroke than the 392, and will rev faster. What do the valve covers say? Does it have adjustable rockers?

The H.D. Dodge truck Hemi motors are way diifferent, 1/2 stem valves and so on, than the car engines are Make sure you know what you will have to change or replace to use the truck motor before decidning to use it The truck motors probally have better cranks and rods also along with solid lifters with adjustable rocker arms

The smooth valve covers and 4 bolt manifolds are some of the positives to counter the negatives when building a truck motor

So, any idea what a running engine like this is worth. i guess the frame and engine go together. I told my buddy probably a couple grand.........But, Im no expert on these so Im relying on you guys for a price.

That carb. does not look like a carb. that would have a builtin governor on it like the old HD 354 C.I. truck motors had It looks like a standard two barrel passenger carb Based on that I would make sure it is a 354 C.I. truck motor and not one of the baby(very small C.I.) hemi Dodge car motors
