I have a buddy that found this motor and Im not very good with the ole school Hemi's. The owner said it had a stamped number of (VT 549-2496C)
That number don't seem to match any of the early Hemi car engines . If it were a Desoto engine , the serial would start with an "S". S17 for 1952 through to S26 for 1957.
If it were a Dodge engine , It would start with a "D" other than the 1957 D500 and that would start with "K"
If it were a Chrysler engine e, it would start with a "C" or W , N ,L and some with numbers . Maybe It could be a Plymouth engine if they made any but I can't recall that far back . Plymouth may have in the early 50s , maybe some more informed member can chime in and tell you what the engine is . ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beer.gif)
