Need some direction for my rear end in my D150.
I have an 8 3/4" "489" from a '74 D100 and just purchased a Powertrax lock right that has already been installed into a "742" case, and is all set up with new bearings, etc.
I also ordered a new set of gears, but ordered for a "489".
Is this all going to work?
Any other parts, bearings, sleeves, I need?
I attached a photo of the locker in the case if that helps?
Thanks!

You order gears for the case you have.So if you use a 489 case you order gears for iy.The factory SGs all interchange. So yours should work as long as the axle splie count is the same.Install kit is also used for the case you use.If a 489 use a crush sleeve eliminator.Give Dr Diff a member here a call.Cass is the rear end man and can get you all you will need.Rocky

I don't believe that Lock Right unit contains a thrust block so you'll need to change to Green bearings if you want to use it.

All the diff carriers sections will interchange. The difference on them are what bearings were used. So basically if you use the right bearings and races that fit your carrier, your good to go.

And as mentioned, the gears are ordered for whatever case number your using.

I would strongly suggest getting the crush sleeve eliminator for the the 489 gears. And you may have to check the fit of it, as the I had one once that was getting bound up on the pinion gear due to the welded seam on the inside of the sleeve. I little grinding of the weld to make it flush with the inside of the sleeve was all it needed. Never had one since do that to me--must have been a fluke, but I always check that now before I start setting things up.

Also, not sure on those thrust blocks on the powertrax unit, but that is a very good point that was brought up to check and see if it has it or not. As mentioned a switch to a set of green bearings is all that would be needed.

Outcast Dodge guy.

Thanks everyone for the input!
I called DrDiff today, and it sounds like I'm all set.
I did order the crush sleeve eliminator today too.
My confusion in reading up on this was trying to differentiate between the "case", the "center section", and the "carrier".
