Help!!! My 2001 Durango is overheating. I have determined that the electric fan is not turning on. I can't find a fuse and my mechanic friend says the problem is even a 220 degrees the electric fan does not start. If I turn off the A/C and bring the motor up to 2800 RPM the engine cools doewn. What controls that fan? How can one test to find out if it is the fan or control device? Please help?? I need to find out !! Is there a Mopar A/C mechanic in the house?

The elect fan on my wifes 01 4.7 durango hasnt worked in years with no over heating even with the a/c on. The only time it had overheated it needed a new water pump because the factory pump had a plastic impeller that cracked and wasnt circulating coolant. Or maybe you have a bad fan clutch?

On the 2003 4.7 there is also a relay to activate the fan. Both the fuse and the relay are in the under the hood fuse box. The cover has the placement positions of the fuse and relay. I replaced the relay at about 140K miles when I replaced the radiator. I believe the radiator failed when the truck overheated when the fan quit running.
