I still run with the theory that somebody attempted disassembly at some point and possibly damaged it pressing it back on. Even the "performance" hubs available are aluminum. Fluke deal for sure.... http://www.tcsproducts.com/products/product/559/And for those following, the input shaft was fine, but the hub in which it splines to broke around the circumference of the shaft. spline area held up, but about a 1/4" in it broke all the way around.
