Spyphish: I wasn't so much a mapping guy like you. I did flight charts and scored bomb runs for the B-52 crews when I was at Carswell AFB, then looked at China and counted MiGs, Soviet subs, etc. in the various military installations like Zwang Chang Zhu (probably forgot the spelling). I had the photometrics training that you probably used in mapping, but never used that stuff.
I should have stopped back by after the first round to say "Hey!". I wondered all over the pits looking for friends and talking to some Mopar racers. After being in the sun all day I was ready to head home. Maybe I'll catch you at another race (Houston divisional or the Dallas National event?).

Charlie, Wow that is amazing to me what these computerized mills are capable of...There is a lot of waste on those billet chunks though...I bet the local metal recycle center pays good for those grindings.

Just curious so have to ask. Is there a big advantage to a billet manifold over a conventional sheet metal piece?

The main advantages are this, you can shape things inside the plenum where everything usually welds together. There is no better way than to call out the radius you want, and machine it. I cant believe these days that anyone would try to hand shape a radius on a runner. The other advantage as opposed to the normal billet bank intakes I make, where there are 2 billet halves, with a plenum welded around them, is I can ship this thing to the customer, and never have to fit it to the block. It has been interesting. I have 6 normal hemi intakes to make next, I will be making them the normal way. I may try the one piece deal on a hemi next. cw

Makes sense to me. Thanks for the info, I appreciate that. I have not seen many complete CNC intakes, I have seen the CNC'ed runners but not a one piece intake before.
