I'm rebuilding a 69 440 for a friend.This is a stock rebuild.Nothing fancy,just a nice rebuild.Ordered main bearings from Summit,Clevite MS1277P-10.These are suppose to be tri-metal 1/2 groove.Recieved them today and they are full groove.Should I be concerned,any difference full to 1/2 groove.Any input would be great. Thanks,John.

Full groove provide continuous oiling to the rods... which many builders think is a good thing. I run them in my wedge for that reason. They do use more oil and will probably reduce oil pressure at hot idle somewhat. With a high volume oil pump no problem with standard or typical high po main/rod clearances up to .0024" or so.

The standard OP may be OK but if it were mine I'd go ahead and put the high volume version in with full groove bearings.

the full grooves will have more oil clearance. probably ought to mock up the main bores/crank and check the clearances or use the 4924 bearing set. i'm going thru some bearing issues now and all I can say is stuff ain't what it used to be.

KING Race bearings are the best stuff out there
1277's ? Use them in a heartbeat , never look back, will be fine--that is a very narrow groove compared to the old Mopar/Clevites we used to run in everything.
No worry, slap them in and go! Use whatever oil pump you have and forget it.
