Typical running hot this spring...Help

I have a bone stock 1963 Chrysler 300 with a 383 and a 22" radiator. I went for a small cruise (20 minutes) and went to put her away and felt it was running abit hot. The dummy gauge did not show excessive heat but when I shot it with the gun this is what I found...Any help is appreciated...

motor has never been out... 23K mile car as well. I am fearful that the radiator needs to be recored but it appears fine...

Did this problem just start?
Is there a shroud?
Was there one from the factory?
Do you burn regular ethanol pump gas in it?

So what is the reading on the gauge? I'd do the easy stuff first. Check that the lower hose ain't collapsing and toss the stat for 1 test drive. check timing. heat riser not stuck

Did this problem just start? I had a heat issue for the 200 mile drive to Carlisle in July but it never got too bad. I had to put the heat on at one point...
Is there a shroud? No shroud from the factory... Was there one from the factory?

yes regular gas 93 unleaded....
gauge reads a touch over mid way.. It's the dummy gauge in the dash....

My guess is lean fuel mixture, especially on old original car like that.
It never had shroud when new? If no shroud from the factory then I don't think that is your problem?
If your running today's pump gas(93 is full of ethanol, that's how they get it to 93 octane now), then I know it's leaner than with straight gas with no ethanol. The 10% ethanol does not have the same BTUs as gasoline and that makes the overall mixture lean on our old cars with carburetors. Lean makes additional heat.
If you don't want to mess with the jetting yet, then find some straight gas to try. It don't matter what kind of straight gas. Most times 110 leaded race gas is easiest to find and won't hurt a thing to run it straight on top of a small amount of unleaded ethanol.
Marinas or nearby water seem to have straight gas for sale FYI.
