Jared, Hope you're well. What's up with the West Coast Hemi group? Frank
I'm doing much better these last few months. The arm is still not as strong as it used to be and my range of motion will never be 100% but at least everything is functional! Thanks for asking.
So far as I know, WCH will be out this year, but I can't tell you exactly when. That's not my decision to make. All I can say is that we've been doing our due diligence in the dyno room these last few months and when the cars hit the track we should be right back in the thick of things.
One more thing ... Rains goes 8.47 @ 155

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying any of the AH guys are bad drivers. I'm just reflecting on how some of the ex bracket guys who turned pro have dominated their ranks from the driving perspective; ie: Connoly,Couglin, and possibly now Langdon. Nobody has more respect for the AH group than I do but I would enjoy seeing any of them win the eliminator a couple times a year to increase the attention to, and respect for the breed.
When guys like Ronnie Sox were dominating in their Hemi cars I strutted around waving my Drag News just waiting to show off their latest win. Of course I know their primary goal is to knock each other off and claim the new record but it would be icing on the cake for me to see them in the winner's circle as well.....and not just by beating each other. Trust me, they will all be gone by third round at Pomona.
That's my story...and I'm stuck with it.

I agree with your point, but what got me interested in the class is the headsup format. I am not interested in giving the Vegas and Pintos head starts on the index. Shootouts only.

I want to switch gears a little and move to the Mopars at the Strip Race...I talked with Phil Painter earlier today (Thurs.) and he informed me that he will have a purse of at least 10 grand for the Hemi shoot-out...He is still working on trying to up that as well , but sponsorship dollars are tough in this economy as we all know all to well...Pay-outs are yet to be decided.... Hats off to Phil and Nitro Joe for all their hard work in keeping the Hemi Shoot-Out in Vegas a great tradition....I know that the Wescott's are planning to heading west... Anyone else from the East Coast or Mid-west?... It looks to be a great race with a great pay-out... See you all in Vegas!!! Mopars at the Strip...March 20-22 Las Vegas NV.

unless they re run this race next weekend, qualifying is over. wait a day or so and tell me who won and I will award the prize. we will call it the HEMI MILITIA stimulus program. cw

Charlie, Being that qualifying was abbreviated to one run, why not award a shirt to all those who participated?

Im not sure how every one else hooked, but Mazz didnt 60 foot very good vs. what his car normally does. It went a 1.20. He also misjudged the gear requirement and was way overRPM at the end of the track. They are hoping to get one more hit at the tree today (Saturday) to see if things change. Mazz Changed the gear back and worked on the carbs a little. Hopefully it will be better. It should.
10.53 @ 125mph. 1.37 60 foot. Caltracs and Monoleafs, AFCO shocks.
Heads by INDIO MOTOR MACHINE; IMM. CP Pistons, PC Carbs.

the rainman left at least a dime on the table also. He will be back in form at the next race.
