Steel crank motor too. I'm still trying to work all the bugs out of the 318 project. Haven't had much time to screw with it lately though.Dave

J_BODY I Live Here J Joined: May 2003 Posts: 13,202 aZLiViN	I remember pulling a head on my 77 400 to have a burnt valve repaired. Couldn't believe how far that piston was down in the hole at TDC. Thought about throwing some 915's on it, but I don't think that would have even helped.

GTX MATT master Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 5,169 CT	I don't buy it, you've got a poor running 440 even by late 70s standards. Thats 180 horsepower and 325 ft lbs of torque. I'd expect that running on 6 cylinders with 27 degrees of total timing. You should have 400ish ft lbs of torque still IMO. Run a compression test and report back to us. Now I need to pin those needles, got to feel that heat Hear my motor screamin while I'm tearin up the street

lewtot184 master L Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 3,916 usa	i think a stock 375hp magnum might do 240hp at the rear. an 8:1 '78 smogger was rated at 195hp@3600rpm. figuring at least a 20% loss with a tight converter thats 156hp at the rear, maybe a little less in the real world.
