Getting parts ready for a new 440 Six Pack engine that will be finished shortly.

I need a distributor and plan to try a Firecore.

I plan to use the plug and play distributor and have a Rev N Nator ignition box.

So which distributor do I need, the one with the vacuum advance or the race one with no vacuum advance?

The 440 is going into a street car with occasional trip to the drag strip.

Any suggestions or experience?

Thanks

OK let's clarify a few things, the plug and play (ready to run) units have a CD ignition built into the base of the distributor.
If you want to run a revenator unit you need the standard mag pickup unit.I like the tall mechanical advance unit myself. I'm one of those guys that don't use a vacuum advance

Wait a minute.... Per Rick's post linked below I thought the "plug and play" was the one that plugs into your existing factory style setup using your current factory style ignition stuff....

The ready to run was the one that was totally self contained.

Ah yes he must referring to the new connector design that uses the standard Mopar connector instead of the first gen units with an MSD style connector.
My mistake the "ready to run" was sometimes refereed to as a "plug and play" unit

i don't think you'll be happy with the 'off the light' response without one. but of course this has been argued countless times here. it's what we do!
