The patient...

1972 Roadrunner 440/4spd

I crawled under neath today to take off the torsion bar in an effort to do the front suspension...instantly...my eyes locked on to the E-Brake cable management / routing. There are four spacers connected on a J bolt in an effort to apply tension to the rear brakes.

Anyone have a correct way of how this is done. I am prettttttty sure this isn't the way.

shine your drop light on it then retake the pic so it'll be clear. Likely someone rigged something to shorten a stretched cable so the ebrakes would function

Maybe the adjustment arm is hooked in the wrong place. It may need to go forward or over to the side to another hole somewhere.

I believe the J bolt is to be hooked into the hole to the right of the hole the fuel lines are passing through in your picture, not through that bottom hole.

I just looked at my 74 Charger and there's another slot type hole above and to the right of the empty hole I see in your picture. My ebodies have the J hook in the empty hole to the right in your pic. Hope this helps

Yours is missing the support hook that hooks to the transmission cross member.

I figured some component was missing....there is no reason there should be four spacers on that tensioner.

I'll make my own extension and hook it on to the trans crossmember...I wish I could power wash that entire undercarriage and blow all that grease and debris away....but I dont want all the crud on my drieway

Thanks for the pictures and schematics.
