The left remote control mirror in my Challenger doesn't hold position once set. I took it apart and there's a gap between the cable end and the back of the mirror. See the pic below. The cable end is supposed to be riding against the mirror back. It looks like the three cables have stretched. Is there a way to to tighten the cables? I have another mirror in better shape-can I swap the innards? I'm trying to avoid having to buy a new mirror and getting it painted at this time. Thanks

Update-I compressed the tension spring in the control end and locked it in place. Then I opened the control knob crimp and got the cable free. There's s specially shaped bead crimped on the end of that wire. There's about a quarter inch of slack-if something could be crimped in front of that-it could solve the problem. Any ideas? Thanks
