Are the 71 and 72 B body 4 spd consoles the same or are there major differences.

Also the same as the 71-up E body console. No difference, unless it was a 4spd. 4spd and auto consoles; both the body and top plate are different.

The car is a bucket seat console car but I have never had a console for it.1972 Road Runner 400 4 spd.

Then you just need to look for a 4 spd console and top plate for; 71-up B or E body.
Tonys parts repops the consoles, and lots of vendors repop the top plate and wood grain inlay.
You'll also need the console floor brackets front and rear that hold the console in place. Those are repoped as well.

Could I get the measurements from the shifter hole to the brackets please? I need to install the brackets cause my car didn't come with them.

If you want to save some $$ get an automatic console and the pattern to cut it out to make it a 4 speed console.

The floor brackets are already there.When I bought the car years ago the console was already gone.

the only diff from outside is if the 71 got the earlier console version that got a big cut out for storage the seatbelt buckles, for a while 72s ( and laters ) are with ashtray!

inside got smaller differences too, on the way how both halves bolts one to the other.

As far as the cutouts go. I bought some cardboard templates on Ebay to cut them out and it worked great for me. I still have those cutouts. If you need them, PM me and we will work something out.
