Hey everyone. Looking to purchase an aluminum world hemi block. Was wondering who everyone would recommend I purchase it from?
Thanks.

Bill Mitchell has them, but why? There is a nice Hemi Indy block in the classifieds for 2000 less.

That one in the classified is a good deal if you knew it was good and didn't have anything wrong with, it like leaks. Since the history is unknown and Indy parts are a suspect for defects, It might be worth a little more to have some type of warrantee. Not to say World blocks are any better, but you should get some help if there's something wrong with it.

I haven't heard anything good about World customer service on their blocks. I would have the one in classifieds pressure tested, or even go look at it, if I were closer to his location. JMO

I have used several the World aluminum blocks (HEMI and Wedge) and not had any unusual problems, no leaks, and just the usual machine work required (line hone, bore hone, vicious cleaning of left over shavings, deck checking, etc.) but all that is to be expected. I had one that had the rear main seal slightly off, but I found that during mock up and fixed it easily. Early blocks had cheap main studs but they're all ARP now. Smallest motor was 750 HP with >10000 miles on it and still running well, NA dragster was right at 1000 and a blown HEMI at 1600.
At the time KB blocks were running a year out, but Ken Black has got that back into line now. I'd go KB for the next one.
