I've never owned one of these cars but the topic prompted this question; I've seen a lot of original hoods that have what appear to be stress cracks around the scoop center support.

I assume, if you're pulling the hood by yourself, the only logical place to pick it up is through the scoop opening. Do most of you find that this causes the center of the hood to deflect and ends up causing the cracks? Just curious.

my hood was very broken and cracked when i got it. i added a little extra fiberglass in that area when i painted it.

yes this is common. It's cause from the air being sucked in as well as lifting the hood off from the top of the scoop. i always lift from the bottom of the scoop. I too reinforced the brace.

I probably fixed 30 of these back in the day. Just spot-weld up a wide H alum or steel piece and glass-it-in there.

And BACK THEN ...I could have traded maybe 20 of those for a lite-weight piece ....using those OEM hoods as a 1/3 credit or so.

The AAR and T/A hoods are great example of the perfect A12 hood.....but who wants an E-body with 3x2's and a small block

A few N94 equipped big block Challengers came with T/A hoods from the factory.

I have only owned mine for a few weeks but it is kind of a pain. So far the pleasure from owning it has out weighed that.

And bonus ! No expensive hard to restore accurately with proper plating hood latch to pay for !
