Oh believe me there are people who have used originals on restored cars. There are people who have also sprayed paint on originals after restoring the car as well.
On the hunt for my dad's old cars. They include 5 Daytona's, 2 superbirds, and 2 500's. Very interested in finding the Red on Red Daytona, and Q5 Charger 500, and have found both cars.

What's the difference, if any, between an assembly line oil filter and an NOS dealership parts counter replacement of the era? Should the assembly line unit be spray bombed orange like the manifolds and battery cable to be correct? What's the best repro to use? Thanks!
Now, there should be enough pictures between this thread and threads listed above to make a decent photoshop image of the printed info on the oil filters. Then get those inkject printable water transfer papers and apply those on a similar looking oil filter that rattle canned matched green.
You might experiment first with test shots adding grit. I've seen someone add the grit pretty decently.
This stuff doesn't have to be perfect to the .001" It's hard to see even when installed on a big block. Especially a car with A/C.
I bet if you changed the words around no one would ever notice. It's not like someone is going to be carrying one around to compare to.

Box that contained 12 green Mopar filters, this batch being dated 2-68.
Is there any danger running a filter that old?I think I'd be afraid the paper filter element might come apart.
I would only use it as a show display only. Paper deteriorates and I would think a 40 plus year old filter would have issues.

I sold 2 back in the "day"(2006-7) for 1500.00 each.Someone here kept a copy of the original eBay listing.I was hoping to get 500.00
And to think, back maybe 2000 or 2001,( it was no later than 2002 ) I was offered a case of 12 of the green filters for $1000,,,, for the whole case as passed ( yea I know,,,, not one of my better decisions)
