Okay my Dad's 68 340 gts manual brake car is in need of a new cap for the master cylinder. I have seen two types on cars one has the screw in the center holding it down and then there is the one with the clip that flips up and over the cap to hold it. That is what his car has. Which is correct? Also who stocks these caps in the correct finish? I have checked the web and not had much luck on finding one. Thanks

You didn't say what KIND of brakes, drum or disc. Drum brakes use the screw through the middle with the separate "w" shaped hold-down, the aftermarket style uses a cap with tow humps on it with the bolt through the middle. Disc brakes use the wire and the master has a large bowl and small bowl, while the drum master the bowls are the same size. The later drum brake (71-up) uses a wire to hold the cap down with the same size bowls.

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

It is a front disk car, any idea where to get the cover?

My 73 Challengers master has a rounded front and a square back. The aftermarket masters I've see have a square front and a round back.

I bought a new cover at the Nats from "The Ram Man" He said they were NOS. I didn't care about that...I just wanted something that wasn't all pitted.

The Ram Man will have them, he is a vendor on this site. It is unusual for a 68 to have manual front discs. The 67 383 Dart GTS had them mandatory but by 68 they started using the 7-1/4" booster that the 67 273 cars had.

I had checked his site and I did not see any but I will call him. Yeah this dart has some odd things on it. early 68 car with the split grille insert, power steering, non power disk brakes, and it has headrests. I thought most 68's were non headrest?

Headrest could be ordered in 67 and 68, even seen a 68 with drivers headrest only. Your car must have been ordered to have those options.

I need the one without the screw in the center, the one that is held on by the flip up clip as it is disk brakes
